What happened to Michael David Helmann? His cause of death

Street Outlaws lost a beloved member of its production crew when Michael David Helmann died in August 2022. Per IMDb, Helmann also produced Gordon Ramsay’s 24 Hours to Hell and Back, Garage Rehab, and Gym Rescue. 

“Today is a tough day for the Street Outlaws family,” Fireball Camaro wrote on Facebook on 13th August 2022. “Mike was not only a fantastic producer, but a great friend to myself and [the] Fireball crew. He was always there to put a positive twist on anything negative and knew how to get your spirits up if you were down.”

Michael David Helmann was found unresponsive in his hotel room in August 2022

Michael David Helmann was found dead on 11th August 2022 in his hotel room. Authorities haven’t released an official cause of death. 

Mike Murillo of Mike Murillo Racing described Helmann as special. “Michael was THAT producer that we knew actually cared about us and treated us like family,” Murillo wrote on Facebook

Per Murillo, Helmann kept in touch with the crew and was generally a fun person to be around. “Michael, you made the world a better place during the short time you were in it,” Murillo continued. “We will never forget you or the love you showed everyone.”

On 8th October 2022, Mike Murillo Racing uploaded an image of Helmann’s memorial service in Chicago, Illinois. 

A GoFundMe page created to fund his farewell and support his family exceeded its goal, raising $2,000 over its $50,000 target. Dana Walker wrote on the page:

“The impact Michael made on everyone far and wide who had the pleasure of meeting him, and those of us who were fortunate enough to call him a friend, is greater than can be put into words.”

“Thank you for all your support in every form, & we hope this helps show Mike’s family how much he meant to so, so many of you.”
