What is Mika Kleinschmidt’s ethnicity? The reality star’s African-American heritage
Mika Kleinschmidt and her husband, Brian, are the stars of HGTV’s 100 Day Dream Home. Brian and Mika were the perfect pair to host the show, having gained considerable experience in real estate as owners of their company, Dirt 2 Design.
Mika Kleinschmidt is African-American; her mother inadvertently set her up with Brian
Mika Kleinschmidt is African-American. Though she hasn’t revealed much about her personal life, we know that her mom, Ellen, set up Mika and Brian’s first meeting.
Ellen was a music teacher at Brian and Mika’s Riverview High School in Sarasota, Florida, who encouraged Brian to join the chorus. Due to a mix-up, Brian rehearsed with the girls for several weeks. During that time, he met and fell for Mika.
“My schedule got mixed up so I was in girls’ chorus for the first couple of weeks of school. That’s where I first met Mika and I knew there was something special about her,” Brian told The Osprey Observer. “My guidance counselor kept telling me she was doing her best to get my schedule corrected so I didn’t have to be in the girls’ chorus anymore. I told her I was in no hurry.”
It was love at first sight for Brian, but he didn’t convince Mika to go out with him. However, years later, after both parties married and divorced other people, fate brought Mika and Brian back together. The pair were married on 10th October 2015, five years after they started dating.
“20 years ago I was too shy to ask you to homecoming… 9 years ago I finally got the nerve to ask you on a date… and 4 years ago we said ‘I Do!’” Brian captioned an October 2019 anniversary post.
