Nathaniel and Chase the Car update – Where is the unconventional couple now?

An old clip from TLC’s documentary series My Strange Addiction recently went viral across social media platforms – it showed a 27-year-old Nathaniel from Arkansas proclaiming his love for a car. Nathaniel, who likely suffers from objectophilia, claimed to be in an ‘intimate and serious relationship’ with his 1998 Chevy Monte Carlo, which he affectionately named ‘Chase’.

“It was love at first sight. His body and his interior and everything just together seemed to fit. I felt an instant connection. I don’t know why I feel the way I do, but I just know I absolutely love Chase. We always have a good time together,” said Nathaniel

Nathaniel, the Arkansas man who dated his car ‘Chase’ 11 years ago, has now moved to Florida

Nathaniel’s story was captured in the first episode of the third season of My Strange Addiction which aired on February 12, 2012. In it, he publicly disclosed his relationship with his car ‘Chase’ for the first time, even confessing to his father who took it surprisingly well.

Nathaniel, who worked as a customer service technician in Royal, Arkansas, found Chase in a car dealership in 2005 and instantly fell in love.

The pair have been ‘dating’ since and embarked on a bold physical relationship, or so he claimed. It should be noted that he had always been attracted to cars from a young age, especially after he hit puberty.

It has now been 11 years since the shocking revelation and Nathaniel would now be 38 years old. But the big question that remains unanswered is whether his relationship with Chase has changed or not.

In 2019, a Redditor by the username ‘bociephus’ claimed to have known and worked with Nathaniel in a factory. According to the Redditor, Nathaniel did warranty work on AC products before moving to Florida for another job. They wrote:

“I know this guy, good ole Nate. Actually, a pretty chill dude. We worked at the same factory and when he left for another job in Florida, I was the guy that took his job… At work, his car was his screensaver and he would actually hold a toy model of his car in his hand while he drove the car. Besides the fact he is a tad off, he was always pretty chill.”
