Inside Randy Arozarena’s relationship with his wife, Cenelia Pinedo
Randy Arozarena played well for Mexico during the 2023 World Baseball Classic, endearing himself to Mexican fans during his first outings for the team. The Tampa Bay Rays outfielder gained Mexican citizenship in 2022 to earn the right to play for Mexico in the WBC. Randy said that his family partly influenced his decision to defect to Mexico from Cuba:
“I feel like I represent Mexico. I have a daughter in Mexico, and I’d do it in honor of her and for the part of my career that I spent in Mexico, and for all the friends I’ve made in Mexico.”
Randy shares one daughter with his wife, Cenelia Pinedo Blanco, who has a daughter from a past relationship
Randy Arozarena married Cenelia Pinedo Blanco, a Colombian, on 13th November 2020. Cenelia is from the Colombian city of Cartagena de Indias. She studied at National Open University in Bogota.
Cenelia and Randy share one daughter, Alaia, and she has a daughter from a previous relationship. Alaia was born in September 2021. Randy posted Instagram photos and videos of the bay on Instagram, writing:
“Thanks to my almighty God for giving me all the blessing of this world and today back to become a Father you have given me an angel my beautiful daughter, Alaia. I just ask you to protect me always and give me all the health of this world to protect and take care of her all my life.”
The Colombian is secretive, occasionally appearing on Randy’s Instagram page.
Randy was arrested for allegedly trying to kidnap his daughter in Mexico
In November 2020, the month Randy married Cenelia, he was arrested for allegedly trying to kidnap his daughter from her mother. Randy and his ex-partner have a daughter named Lia Antonella.
The MLB star allegedly assaulted his ex-partner’s father. Randy was released after his ex-partner told the Mexican judiciary that she didn’t want to press charges; that Randy had settled any damages.
Randy seems to have mended bridges with his ex-partner. On 1st September 2022, he posted an Instagram photo of Lia celebrating her 4th birthday. He wrote:
“My little princess [is] turning 4 years old. God always take care of you my daughter and gives you lots of health and allows you to see many more years. I love you with all my heart.”
