Weird Al Yankovic and Madonna’s relationship: The rumors debunked

In the trailer for the upcoming and hugely anticipated Weird Al biopic – Weird: The Al Yankovic Story – Al, played by an impressively styled Daniel Radcliffe, makes out with Madonna, portrayed by the stunning Evan Rachel Wood. The scene and the film’s synopsis have led many to believe that Weird Al and Madonna dated. 

The synopsis reads: “The biopic holds nothing back, exploring every facet of Yankovic’s life, from his meteoric rise to fame with early hits like ‘Eat It’ and ‘Like a Surgeon’ to his torrid celebrity love affairs and famously depraved lifestyle.”

However, Weird Al and Madonna never dated. 

Madonna and Weird Al weren’t in a relationship and didn’t do drugs together

Weird Al built his career on parodies, so it makes sense that his biopic is a parody. For comic effect, the film fabricates moments in Weird Al’s life, including his fake relationship with Madonna. 

The Daily Mail claims it’s likely Madonna and Weird Al never met, let alone dated. The trailer shows Madonna fueling Al’s drug use and encouraging him to party ceaselessly. 

Those scenes are also made up as, on the advice of his parents, Weird Al abstained from drugs and excessive partying. He told Rolling Stone:

“I’ve never done drugs recreationally. I’ve been around people that smoked dope, pot, Mary Jane, reefer. I enjoyed being around those people in college because it was very easy to make them laugh.”

“But it was never my thing and my parents drilled into me not to ever take drugs, so out of respect for them I never did. Maybe when I’m 75 years old I might be ready for them. We’ll see what happens.”
